Training Leo to use the human toilet

After proving his own intelligence, Leo has now advanced to being trained to use the human toilet. (He already knows the sit command.)

Previous attempts failed miserably due to lack of planning, but this time, I think we’ll be sucessful.

Everytime we teach him, he finds it fine doing his business on the toilet, but when we start putting a hole in, he gets curious and tries to look in it instead of actually going to the toilet.

Recently, he’s been really fascinated by dripping taps and toilets flushing so I think he’s used to it now. That’s why we started trying again since a few weeks ago. Right now, he’s fine with it and the hole is about 10 cm in diameter.

So cheer for Leo!

Leo is magical

Recently, I have realised that his eyes have changed colour from blue to greenish. Then they were sort of more amber. My friends say his eyes look hazel now.

Leo’s funny moments

There’s probably too many and I can’t remember them all. So, I can’t be bothered. I shall however, waste your time and make you stare at pictures of him doing ballet while sleeping.

Laziness and other random habits

13.07.08
13.07.08

Because this is going to be a super long entry, I shall fill up blank spaces of doom with text talking about Leo’s random habits. Note that hardly any of this will actually refer to the photos and also that I probably will forget to mention a lot of things.

1. Leo’s laziness
Like all cats, it is obvious that he’s bound to be a lazy bum. His daily routine is probably eat, toilet, play, sleep. If no-one’s home, he’ll most likely sleep the entire day. He tends to climb into your lap while you’re on the toilet and sleep there.

2. His violent hyperactive episodes
Quite frequently, he likes attacking people’s arms when he’s bored of his toys. Right now, it’s colder so I wear long sleeves and usually a jacket. Despite this, he somehow manages to find my arm and hands anyway. It’s just playing and his teeth and claws never go through (even though they usually can) so I let it go. After all, he’s just a kitten, but we seriously need to get him desexed soon so that he looses some of that aggression. And plus, think of all the homeless little kittens that are a result of people neglecting desexing.

3. Eating like a pig

No surprise here. Likes to eat basically everything he’s given. (Obviously not including fruit and things cats generally don’t eat.) Although as the cat grows older, the number of meals they have is supposed to decrease, it’s getting increasingly hard to do so with Leo because we get scared he’ll die of starvation.  Probably overreacting. BUT. He doesn’t eat more than he’s supposed to.

4. Random meowing
Yes, everytime he feels abandoned he starts meowing his arse off. Especially when one person leaves the house, he hears the door shut and doesn’t hear anyone else in the house. He also meows when he wants to be fed and the moment he thinks you’re going to feed him, he shoots off to his food bowl.

5. Trying you steal your food

Sometimes, I get the feeling he gets a bit too much nice human food. Especially when he declines your offers of perfectly edible things that he used to eat. Then, he goes off and tries to steal your food again. Luckily, I’ve taught him to sit before I give him any food and most of the time, he remembers. So, he sits there and if I ignore him, he starts poking/nudging me with his paw every 5 minutes or something.

 6. Obsession with dog slippers

I have a pair of dog slippers which he massages and licks whenever he feels like it.

Look at his poofy chest fur, stubby little legs and tiny, miniscule tail.
Isn’t he just the epitome of cuteness? x3

Raining cats (and dogs) – An introduction to Leo

As the title of this blog says, it is a blog mainly dedicated to my lovely cat called Leo. (The most adorable kitten and cat in the universe.)

Statistics
Name: Leo (My star-sign)
Gender: Male
Birthday: 1/05/08 (just a guess)
Type: Ginger (based on looks)

We adopted him on a fateful Saturday morning on the 7th of June at approximately 6 weeks old this year from someone who had found him abandoned on the side of a highway in the pouring rain. But she already had too many cats that she was looking after so we took him.

He’s grown so much since the stubby fuzzball he once was when we got him.
